Teach You Media (TYM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive media education and public communication programs, specifically tailored for youth between the ages of 12 and 20, at absolutely no cost. Our overarching mission is to advance societal progress through the empowerment of media literacy, with a vision aimed at fostering a global landscape where media authentically reflects the diverse voices and experiences of ordinary individuals.

MEDIA PRODUCTION

Students explore fundamentals of media production for film, television and radio with a focus on developing technical and interpersonal skills.

PUBLIC COMMUNICATION

Students explore fundamentals of public communication with a focus on fostering voices to address pressing social issues.

Executive Director/Lead Mentor

Jay, Ph.D.

With over 15 years as a professional photographer, Jay went back into higher education earning a Ph.D. in communication from Arizona State University.

Antonio, M.A.

USAF Veteran with a passion for thinking creatively. Antonio earned a B.A. in communication and an M.A. in social technologies from Arizona State University.

Lee

Nulalee (Lee) is s former social worker turned creative. He has been working full time in video production and photography for several years.

Trey, B.A.

Treyvon (Trey) has been a videographer for seven years. As a videographer, he
prides himself on presenting creative and authentic imagery to tell compelling stories.

Dyllan is an avid learner of everything visual. He has worked on many small and large productions. He also is a foodie who enjoys both cooking and dining.

DeAsiah is a graduate of ASU's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. She is a passionate creative with a focus on broadcast production.

With over 8 years in the television and radio industry, Barima is a an avid creative with a special interest in fitness. His favorite movie is Titanic.

He is a photographer who specializes in editorial photography. He is interested in the art of storytelling and his favorite movie is Pulp Fiction.

Isai is a self-taught, film photographer who has a darkroom in his house. He is an aspiring filmmaker who was born and raised in Arizona.

Chair

Versha Anderson, Ph.d.

Dr. Anderson serves as Residential Faculty in Communication at PVCC as well as a Faculty Associate at ASU. Her area of expertise centers around communication, culture, and conflict.

Vice Chair

Jessalynne, M.A.

Jessalynne (Jess) is an ardent advocate for communities with over 15 years in the nonprofit sector. She is a small business owner who enjoys great, vegan food.

Treasurer

Kathleen Iudicello, Phd

Dr. Kathleen Iudicello has 28 years of experience as a community college Faculty member, Dean, and Vice President of Academic Affairs. Her area of expertise is executive leadership. Her passion is uplifting communities by increasing equitable access to higher education and workforce opportunities.
